Help Shape the Future of Recreation Facility Operations
The Alberta Association of Recreation Facility Personnel (AARFP) is recruiting 3–4 contract instructors to join our instructional cadre in the following streams:
- Building Maintenance (1–2 instructors)
- Parks & Sport Fields (1–2 instructors)
We are looking for experienced, respected operators who are ready to share their knowledge, mentor others, and contribute to the continued evolution of recreation facility education in Alberta.
Teaching with AARFP isn’t about standing at the front of a room. It’s about passing on hard-earned operational knowledge and helping strengthen recreation facilities across Alberta and beyond. Our instructors are experienced practitioners, mentors, and industry leaders who believe that strong facilities start with well-trained people.
Who This Is For
This opportunity is well-suited for professionals who:
- Have strong, hands-on experience in facility operations, maintenance, or parks & sport fields
- Are already mentoring, coaching, or supporting others in their workplace
- Care deeply about safe, effective, and sustainable operations
- Want to give back to the industry in a meaningful, professional way
You do not need formal teaching credentials! We support and provide our instructors onboarding, shadowing, and continuous improvement.
Building Maintenance Stream
Experience May Include:
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
- Preventative and lifecycle maintenance
- Asset management and operational planning
- Supervisory or leadership experience
Parks & Sport Fields Stream
Experience May Include:
- Turf and field construction, maintenance, and safety
- Seasonal operations and scheduling
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability practices
- Equipment operation and field inspections
Arena Stream
Experience May Include:
- Arena, maintenance and safety
- Seasonal operations and scheduling
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability practices
- Leadership experience

What Instructors Do
• Deliver AARFP courses throughout the province
• Support hands-on, applied learning
