Scholarships, Awards and Volunteer Recognition

SCHOLARSHIPS

Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 and Level 2 Awards: presented annually to individuals receiving the highest mark in the province for the Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 and Level 2 courses. These scholarships are sponsored by two of the Association's Associate Members; CL Marketing Inc. and Automated Aquatics Canada Ltd. C L Marketing Automated Aquatics

Arena Operator Level 1 and Level 2 Awards: presented annually to individuals receiving the highest mark in the province for the Arena Operator Level 1 and Level 2 courses. These scholarships are sponsored by two of the Association's Associate Members; Startec Refrigeration and Cimco Refrigeration. Startec Refrigeration Services Ltd CIMCO Refrigeration

Park & Sportsfield Operator Award: presented annually to the individual receiving the highest mark in the province for the Park & Sportsfield Operator course.

Certificate of Recognition: presented to individuals who have achieved the highest marks in any of the Association sponsored training courses.


AWARDS

Don Moore Scholarship - is an annual award of $750 that is available to any Alberta student completing any year of studies in any recognized post secondary educational institution in the province offering courses in the operation of recreational facilities. The deserving student will demonstrate scholastic achievement, as well as personal qualities and character which indicate the promise of success in the recreation field. The presentation includes a plaque, free registration, and one night of accommodation to the workshop.

William Metcalfe Award - acknowledges an individual, group or organization that has made a significant contribution in the field of recreation facility operation, management or design. Areas of contribution can include, but are not limited to, facility design, invention or development of equipment or accessories, outstanding volunteer effort, or a significant contribution in the area of research. The recipient receives a plaque, a one year membership with the Association and expenses to the annual Awards banquet.

Bruce Fowlow Memorial Facility Operator of the Year Award - is presented to an individual or group of individuals who has/have made a significant contribution to the operation and management of recreation facilities within the Province of Alberta.


VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION

Honorary Life Award - Presented to an individual member in recognition of special and valuable contributions deemed to be of exceptional benefit to the Association. The recipient of this award assumes Life Membership in the Association without annual dues and retains his/her voting privileges in accordance with the articles of the Constitution.

Award of Merit - Presented to an individual member or associate member nominated for his/her outstanding and meritorious contribution toward the Association goals and objectives. Those who continue to contribute to the Association receive Bars to add to their Award of Merit.

Certificate of Appreciation - Presented to individual members or associate members, an organization, club or municipality nominated for their significant contribution to the Association.

Long Service Membership - Presented to members in good standing who have maintained a long service membership in the Association. Recogntion is given after 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years of continued service.

Charles Mousseau Associates Award - Presented to an Associate Member, for an individual or company demonstrating a positive contribution serving the membership. The recipient will have demonstrated a consistent, positive approach to providing consultative services, product promotion and customer satisfaction. This award was renamed in 2004 after Charles Mousseau, Associate Representative for the Association for 15 years, upon his resignation from the Board.

Thank You - Presented to individuals who have made a special contribution assisting the Association in achieving its goals and objectives.

Executive Pin - Presented to individuals who have served on the executive for a period of two consecutive years or who have accumulated three years of service. The recipients have made a positive contribution, fulfilling specific duties and have attended Executive meetings.

Presidential Chain - Passed on by the outgoing president to the newly elected president. The gold medallion representative of the Association logo is complete with velvet band displaying brass name plates of all the presidents and the year(s) they served in office. All past presidents receive a silver replica chain as a permanent keepsake.
